The MotoGP pre-season gets underway

Copy Repsol

Everything is ready for the Repsol Team to start its pre-season as the first test sessions are due to take place between 31st January – 2nd February at the circuit of Sepang. Casey Stoner and Dani Pedrosa will be out to make the most of these tests so that they can begin the season in tip-top form.

The World MotoGP 2012 Championship begins in Qatar on 8th April but before then three test sessions have been scheduled, each one lasting 3 days. The first two will be in Malaysia, whilst the final one just before the season starts will take the Repsol Honda Team to the circuit of Jerez between 23rd – 25th March.

All eyes will be on the new machines but there are also some new regulations that come into force this season in MotoGP. Teams and riders will have to get used to the new 1000cc bikes in the pre-season tests and try to get the maximum power out of them. In these three test sessions the riders and teams will concentrate on creating the setups that can be used on the bikes and then they will have to select one for the first race of the season.

Just as essential is the work being done at the Centro de Tecnología Repsol on improving the lubricants that will be used in the Grand Prix races. Research and development work is constant at the CTR as specialists try to improve the Repsol team`s engine performance for each and every race in the championship.

Casey Stoner will be out to retain the world title he won last year. On the other hand Dani Pedrosa will be trying to win his first ever title in the top category of motorcycle racing.
